Good Food Choices

I read some where that if you cut out sugar, white flour and salt from you diet you will speed your weight loss.

As I am currently still trying to lose weight I found some ways to keep cooking the things my family likes and put in a healthier lifestyle for me

Using Honey instead of sugar

Substituting honey for sugar seems to be a matter of taste. Some people use it cup for cup, others prefer 1/2 cup - 2/3 cup of honey per cup of white sugar. Reduce the amount of other liquids by 1/4 cup for every cup of honey used. Lower the oven temp about 25 degrees F to prevent over-browning and add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda for each cup of honey to your batter.n (Honey is naturally acidic and the baking soda tempers it.)

This also helps with Dallin's Allergies. He is severely allergic to Dandelions and when I give him natural honey from around here the pollen in the honey helps alleviate some of the symptoms he gets.
And oh boy do we have a lot of Dandelions around here this year.

No Salt

Cutting out the salt isn't as hard as it seems There are a lot of ways to give your food flavor without all that sodium.
I found a few Mrs Dash flavours that I use on my eggs that are so good.

They also have some good recipes on there webpage.

No White Flour
I have been using whole grain flour for a while in my baking and I just substitute it straight across for white flour when the recipe calls for it.
I do get a few complaints from Christian!
He says Fry bread is suppose to be white. Well I just have to say that the Indians ground there flour so it had to be whole grain.

Olive Oil
And to cut back on cholesterol I am trying to use olive oil instead of butter or margarine in all my cooking.
It give food a fuller flavour anyways.
So here is the chart I use when substituting butter.

 Butter/Margarine
