As moms our job description is very long. I know you have probably seen a list out there somewhere and if we were actually paid, we would be set.
But our pay comes from the little things our family does to show appreciation.
BUT
How often are we thanked for the things we do.
Most of the time I get a thank you for supper and a kiss from Hubby after every meal. From my kids it is usually a grumble or complaint about that days offerings.
And if you read from my previous post not always are the offerings top quality.
But I always feel like my kids think it is just a fact that mom cooks and provides the sustenance.
Although I do love my stove. And when I am actually paying attention, it cooks things perfectly. I find that cooking with a gas oven keeps things moist and yummy.
So there are perks to this thankless job.
The next thankless job and the biggest is...
Which seems to be a never ending and enduring thing around here. I mean even when everything is all washed and folded, kids are still searching for a favorite shirt or a matching pair of socks.
I have got to the point that there are so many odd sock around here that if they even slightly resemble each other they are suddenly called a pair.
And now that I have a nice laundry room with a place to fold on, it seems that the clothes never get put away.
So I am constantly getting naked kids running upstairs to get a pair of P.J's or pants.
But once again I have a great set of machines to help me out. When we built I had my eye on the perfect laundry set and I would not settle for less. (which meant I couldn't get some other things for the house, but boy it has been worth it)
I love these machines, and while I fold the loads, I crank my ipod and dance with every shirt, underwear and pant.
Towels just get in the way of my groove.
I know there are so many other menial little tasks that us Moms never get appreciated for, but we chose this. And I would never give any of it up for a
9-5er where you have to compete to be seen. And I love setting my own schedule so I can take the time to play with the kids I am blessed with.
I know my kids love me and I get to teach them to cook, clean and do laundry so that some day it can be there turn to not be thanked.
